About

I am an Islamic scholar, rooted in faith and open to critical inquiry, convinced that some of the most important questions about Muslim lived experience emerge in the space between traditional and liberal frameworks.

For more than twenty-five years, I have traveled extensively, teaching and working with Muslim communities across different cultures and contexts. Along the way, I encountered the stories, struggles, and remarkable resilience of Muslim women whose experiences would become central to my scholarship which brings classical Islamic methods into conversation with contemporary interpretive frameworks.

I teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Islamic Studies, including Qur’anic interpretation, theology and ethics, women and gender, religion and justice, and comparative theology. I have also led several initiatives that foster interreligious and interdisciplinary research, bringing scholars, students, and communities into conversation across religious traditions.
